Meet my favorite Oktoberfest
All this cooler weather got me like... Yaaaayyy for fall beer!!!!!! And while I'm not one to rush the season (I see you wearing those boots and sipping a pumpkin spice latte on a sunny, 86 degree day. You have all winter to do that shit. Calm down and give summer some respect), I will jump on the early fall drinking bandwagon, because... YUM.
Let me introduce you to Warsteiner Oktoberfest. (You're welcome)
This gem is a seasonal you'll be lucky to find in your local grocery store (I am lucky and so my Kroger carries it) and if you're even luckier, your favorite bar will have it on tap for a couple of months.
Now, if we're being culturally aware Americans who understand that this is a German beer with a German name, we would pronounce the name Warsteiner as VAR-SHTY-NUH. But based on my experience, most bartenders don't sprechen sie Deutsch and my linguistics awareness goes unappreciated in the form of, "Oh, you mean the WHAR-STY-NER?" Sure dude, just give me the beer. Also, go see the world. It's big.
Anyway, I digress... The reason I love this beer is simply that it doesn't feel like I'm drinking a full meal in a glass. I won't pretend that I know anything about beer-making, palette or finishing notes, but compared to most other Oktoberfest brews I've had (I used to be a Sam Adams Oktoberfest girl), Warsteiner is lighter. That, fellow drinkers, means that I can drink more of it!
How do I prefer to indulge in this delicious, malty gift from our Bavarian friends? Why in a frosty beer stein, of course! I have a designated spot in my freezer for glassware (naturally) and you should too. What are we, cavemen?
Prost meine Freunde! (Cheers my friends!)
